Moving Boxes

I've been working on framing the basement walls prior to drywalling. We clear a space, I put up more studding, we try to unpack boxes and install the contents on our Ikea shelving.

After I'm done the studding, we have to get an electrician in to drop some outlets around the walls. Hopefully I'll be able to sell off all the extension cords and power bars.

That wall is 53' long, 49' of which will be used for layout shelving.

This wall is 23' from the stairway to the front wall. Nancy has claimed the lower shelves in this area, the layout will be above, 54" off the floor.

The same area with Ikea shelving installed.

This is my shop side wall, that I'm working on finishing today. Some day when all the shelving is up there'll be a home for everything. A wall and a half left to stud.

I've begun arranging houses and garages in the town of Port Dover, emptying out some of those moving boxes. This represents a back street that faces onto the railway, with Ivey's Roses behind. There'll be lots of fences and hedges and backyard stuff, sheds in various states of repair. A lot of the houses / cottages in this area are clapboard, where in Brantford are a lot more brick homes. Many of the kit offerings are clapboard, so I've used a couple of two storey company houses and some ultra-small Woodland Scenics cottages. They look good if you add a foundation and a wrap around porch using Tichy or Grandt Line railings, porch posts and spindles to add bulk to the house. The garages and sheds are Clever Models card stock buildings I printed off and assembled. Sometimes I use plastic parts from the scrap box to add more 3D to these yardstick buildings. They are really fun to build and cheap to print off.

The last photo shows some progress in the town of Simcoe. I've slung a bit of plaster cloth, now I'm shaping styrofoam hills. These'll be covered in plaster cloth as well before painting and foresting with the trees saved off the old layout. (More boxes that can be unpacked). A bit more fascia up in this area, though I need to get more of the black ABS plastic covering. (Nancy tells me.)
